A proud tradition combining the best of Pembroke, engineers, beer and a little bit of rowing.
Drinking beer in the sunshine after bumping Clare Hall M2 in May Bumps 2014.
Getting the boat out on the way to bump Maggie M4 in May Bumps 2014.
Refuelling at Nanna Mexico with a few big-ass burritos after smashing the getting on race in May Bumps 2015.
Bumping Clare M4 in May Bumps 2015.
In rowing it is a tradition and act of endearment to throw the cox into the river after winning a race. The Pemgibeers throw Hannah in after bumping twice in our 2014 campaign.
Despite being an engineer, Arun forgot about conservation of momentum and also fell in whilst throwing Hannah in.
Although the rest of the crew is fine, Ed somehow routinely forgets his stash. Thankfully, he brought his spare GB rowing kit...
With stash so fly Rich has got to show it off clubbing in life.
Chilling before starting preprepredrinks for boat club dinner after a successful 2014 campaign.
Our traditional ancestral war cry inspires the crew to bumping glory.
+3 in May Bumps. Bumped St Catharine's IV, Clare IV, Darwin III.
II Veterinary Medicine (Clinical)
President of CUWBC for the inaugural women's boat race on the Thames, Osprey of the year and general big deal, we're very glad Caroline decided that her skills were best used coaching the Pemgibeers.
II Veterinary Medicine (Preclinical)
Taking on the title of Honorary (Animal) Engineer for a second year, Hannah's still cracking the whip and keeping the rest of the boat in line as well as running rings round everyone else in mixed touch rugby games.
IIB Information Engineering
A quintessential Cambridge boatie (not great at rowing, terrible chat), Arun is hoping to gain some valuable life skills in his second year in the Pemgibeers.
IIB Mechanical Engineering
Celebrating the fact that he is bisweptual, Adam switched from strokeside to bowside this year. He also was the chief architect of the traditional Pemgibeers' Haka.
PhD Mechanical Engineering
Former captain of the Cambridge University American Football Club, Jack's giant thighs are stuff of legend.
IIA Aeronautical Engineering
Stepping up to captain the Pemgibeers this year, Tristan contributes to the Pemgibeers not only by organising the beers but, with Rich, buying a (Pemgi)pool to facilitate chilling.
IIA Civil & Structural Engineering
Despite having only previously rowed 'about four times at school', Rory's a powerhouse in the boat and also designed the superb 2015 Pemgibeers stash.
IIB Civil & Structural Engineering
A reliable and dependable powersource, a year of dancing for Cambridge University hasn't quenched Andy's thirst for bumps, beer and banter in the Pemgibeers.
IIA Mechanical Engineering
Elite runner with Cambridge University Athletics Club, Rich brings his Duracell bunny like fitness (except on the many occasions he's drastically hungover) to the boat.
IIB Mechanical Engineering
Still at bow, Ryan has recently discovered a little space at the back of the boat where he can lie down and go to sleep.
II Management Studies
Former GB junior sculler, Liam got bored with rowing but the thrill of coxing the Pemgibeers (plus the fact he could just sit there and get pulled along) lured him back. Some memorable inspirational calls include 'We've taken their wives, now let's take their children!'
IIB Mechanical Engineering
Steph is aiming to break the patriarchy and row in the previously male dominated mens divisions of May Bumps. In her spare time she enjoys whacking balls with sticks with Cambridge University Hockey Club.
"So, in this game, you shout out your CRSID and say 'fancy a swap?'"
Join us+2 in May Bumps. Bumped Clare Hall II, St Catharine's V.
IB Veterinary Medicine (Preclinical)
Honorary (Animal) Engineer Hannah qualifies for the Pemgibeers sheerly on the quality of her banter. She's been known to forget she's on the microphone when coxing and comes out with some amazing soundbites.
IIA Mechanical Engineering
Northerner, bike enthusiast and general lout, Adam's chilled attitude makes him perfect at stroke, that is, if he doesn't keep getting injured at the local BMX track.
IIA Mechanical Engineering
Despite not particularly enjoying rowing, Andy's managed to do quite well in some serious rowing races. Given his 6 foot + height, he's forever complaining about Adam's length.
Engineering at MIT
Straight off the plane from an exchange at MIT, Matt loves reminding everyone of the amazing time he had in America and all of the amazing stuff he did. Let's hope his new found abs translate into some bumps.
IB Engineering
Mulleted Canadian Tristan is built like a tank and is the powerhouse of the boat along with Matt and Rich (but not Ed). He absolutely loves the concept of the Pemgibeers, as well as the actual beers.
IB Engineering
The Pemgibeers' combination of beer and sport is perfect for party animal and athletics hero Rich, although a bit of a rift developed between him and Arun and Tristan after the latter two decapitated his giant teddy bear, Paddy Pembroke.
IIA Chemical Engineering
After coxing Cambridge to victory in the 2012 boat race (the one where the guy jumped in the water), Ed realised he couldn't achieve anything more in rowing until the Pemgibeers came along. Forever forgetting his stash, he reminds everyone of his illustrious rowing past by wearing his CUBC and GB kit.
IIA Information Engineering
Founder and captain of the Pemgibeers, Arun's greatest contribution to the Pemgibeers by far is cycling a fridge to the boathouse so chilled beers can be enjoyed by all. He lies awake thinking about how to minimise the time between holding an oar and holding a beer.
IIA Mechanical Engineering
Australian and proud, Ryan loves rowing at bow as no one else can see him row.
